Description
Autoantibodies to Jo are considered one of the markers of dermatomyositis or polymyositis. The disease is characterized by damage to the skeletal (mainly) and smooth muscles with a violation of its functions.
Anti-Jo can also be detected in other autoimmune connective tissue disorders, especially when the complex of involved organs includes the lungs with the development of interstitial lung disease and Raynaud's phenomenon.
When and who needs the test?
- recommended for diagnosis of systemic connective tissue diseases;
- to monitor the course and assess the progression of rheumatic diseases (myositis).
