Description
Antibodies to Scl-70 are antibodies to topoisomerase I (anti-sclerodermal antibodies with a molecular weight of 70 kDa). They are highly specific for scleroderma and are a poor prognostic sign for the development of pulmonary fibrosis. More often appear with diffuse (40%), less often with a limited (20%) form of systemic scleroderma, CREST syndrome.
When and who needs the test?
- recommended for the diagnosis of systemic connective tissue diseases;
- for differential diagnosis of some autoimmune diseases;
- to monitor the course and assess the progression of rheumatic diseases;
- for the differential diagnosis of diffuse connective tissue diseases.
