Description
Zinc transporter antibodies are a fairly new but well-researched marker of type 1 diabetes. They appear in large numbers already at the first stages of the development of the disease.
This test is widely used for differential diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus, determination of the severity of insulin deficiency, and, therefore, effective correction of the treatment of the disease.
When and who needs the test?
- suspected type 1 diabetes mellitus;
- for early diagnosis of autoimmune diabetes mellitus (type 1 diabetes);
- examination of patients with a high risk of developing type 1 diabetes;
- women with insulin-dependent gestational diabetes;
- for differential diagnosis of type 2 autoimmune diabetes;
- to predict the development of the need for insulin therapy in patients with diabetes mellitus.
