Description
A food allergy is a food-induced reaction that is based on immune mechanisms. Among the clinical manifestations of food allergy are acute urticaria, angioedema, attacks of bronchial asthma, anaphylactic shock, exacerbation of atopic dermatitis and less often allergic rhinitis.
Figs as the cause of food allergies have a low degree of allergenic activity (without considering individual characteristics). At the same time, allergic reactions are possible to fresh and dried figs, juice (phototoxic dermatitis).This test is important in the diagnosis of allergic diseases - urticaria, dermatitis, anaphylaxis.
When and who needs the test?
- recommended in a complex of studies to detect sensitization to figs / cross-sensitization in patients with food allergies, acute and chronic urticaria, angioedema, atopic dermatitis, bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis;
- with polyvalent sensitization;
- when it is impossible to conduct questionable results of skin testing and provocative tests.
