Description
Phleum pratense is a perennial herbaceous plant from the cereal family. Allergy to thyme pollen is characterized by extensive cross-reactivity with allergens of many pratense grasses. Phl p 7, Phl p 12 – are minor allergens.
Determination of antibodies to recombinant allergens allows to identify the leading component in the composition of complex allergens at the level of molecular allergology. This allows you to differentiate between true and cross-allergy.
Phl p 7 – calcium-binding protein, minor allergen of thyme pollen. It is found in 10-15% of patients sensitized to meadow grass pollen and causes cross-reactivity with many plants (birch, alder, oil, clogged grasses and others).
Phl p 12 – a protein from the group of profiles, a minor allergen of thyme. IgE antibodies are found in 15-30% of patients with allergies to alkaline grass pollen. Timofeevka profile proteins have a similar structure to the profiles of many plant species, plant foods and latex.
When and who needs the test?
For the differential diagnosis of the true cause of allergies and cross-reactivity, as well as to identify patients in need of ASIT therapy.
