Description

A liver profile is a comprehensive autoimmune examination of the liver, which is aimed at identifying the main laboratory diagnostic markers of autoimmune liver damage using immunoblotting.

Autoantibodies to components of liver cells and tissues are directed to various components of cells and tissues of the human body. The package includes the determination of 5 indicators: IgG antibodies to AMA-M2; M2-3E/LKM-1/LC-1/SLA+LP.

AMA-M2 is an autoantibody directed against the mitochondrial antigens of liver cells. These autoantibodies are formed in autoimmune liver pathologies, are detected in 95% of patients with biliary cirrhosis, are found in the case of CTD, and in the case of liver damage due to drugs.

IgG antibodies to mitochondrial antigen M2-3E are antibodies to the main epitope of type 2 antimitochondrial antibodies. They occur together with AMA-M2 in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis; their detection increases the sensitivity of the examination.

Antibodies to the microsomal fraction of the liver and kidneys (anti-LKM-1) are autoantibodies directed against enzymes of hepatocytes and renal tubular epithelium. They are studied to diagnose autoimmune hepatitis and monitor its treatment.

Cytosolic antigen type 1 (LC-1) antibodies and soluble liver/pancreas antigen (SLA/LP) antibodies are also diagnostic markers for AIH. They refer to laboratory indicators of the second line of diagnosis when first-line antibodies are not detected: anti-smooth muscle antibodies, antinuclear antibodies and antibodies to LKM-1.

When and who needs the test?

It is recommended to take this package test for patients with clinical manifestations of liver damage with suspected autoimmune nature of the disease.
