Description

The package ‘Epstein-Barr virus, IgG antibodies’ is a comprehensive examination of patients for the detection of the Epstein-Barr virus and differential diagnosis of a recent infection and a long-term chronic process.

The Epstein-Barr virus is a DNA virus that belongs to the herpesvirus family. This disease is most often asymptomatic, but it can also be accompanied by subfebrile fever, an increase in all groups of lymph nodes (generalized lymphadenopathy), sore throat, skin rash, hepato- and splenomegaly (enlargement of the liver and spleen).

Indications for appointment: identification of the indicated symptoms in the patient, in case of symptoms of acute respiratory viral infection in pregnant women, the patient's stay in close contact with a patient with infectious mononucleosis, in order to determine the susceptibility to infection and the strength of the immune system.

When and who needs the test?

A triad of symptoms: fever, inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx and an increase in the cervical lymph nodes.
