Description
The TORCH IgM rubella-free test is a test for the detection of acute infection or reactivation of Toxoplasma gondii, CMV, and HSV-1/2. It is recommended during pregnancy, if intrauterine infection is suspected, if ultrasound abnormalities are present, or if there is a history of pregnancy loss.
When and who needs the test?
- Pregnant women in the first trimester, especially if there is no evidence of immunity or if infection is suspected.
- In case of abnormalities on fetal ultrasound (growth delay, calcifications, hydrocephalus, etc.).
- In case of repeated pregnancy losses, missed abortions, or miscarriages.
- In the presence of symptoms that may indicate acute infection or a relapse (fever, rash, enlarged lymph nodes, genital lesions).
- In case of suspected intrauterine infection or TORCH syndrome.
