Description
Research Package No.8.1 is a series of tests to detect particularly dangerous intrauterine TORCH infections. It includes tests for: cytomegalovirus (CMV), IgM antibodies; herpes simplex virus (HSV) 1/2 types, IgM antibodies; Toxoplasma gondii, IgM antibodies; rubella virus, IgM antibodies.
This package is indicated for all women planning a pregnancy, as well as for pregnant women in the early stages, since infection before 12 weeks can lead to fetal hypoxia, miscarriage, intrauterine fetal death or fetal developmental disorders.
IgM antibodies are a marker of an acute process; they appear during the initial contact of the body with an infection. If they are identified, specific treatment should be started as soon as possible, otherwise, with a prolonged process, abortion is indicated for medical reasons.
Additionally, a test for IgG antibodies is prescribed, which indicate a previous disease.
