Description
Prolactin is a pituitary hormone that regulates reproductive function and affects metabolism, immunity, and other systems. A 1:100 dilution test is conducted in cases of reproductive disorders (infertility, menstrual cycle disturbances, polycystic ovary syndrome in women, infertility in men), milk discharge from the breasts, prolonged headaches, and vision problems to detect pituitary tumors.
This test helps diagnose pituitary tumors (macroprolactinomas) even when prolactin levels are within normal ranges.
