Package No.169 – a set of tests elaborated to calculate the prenatal risk of the first trimester of pregnancy and the risk of developing eclampsia.Eclampsia is a pathological condition that is manifested by arterial hypertension, edema, the appearance of protein in the urine, convulsions, up to the development of coma.
The package includes tests for the level of free human chorionic gonadotropin, pregnancy-associated protein A and placental risk factor.
The indication for the appointment is a screening examination of all pregnant women in the first trimester to assess the individual risk of the presence of chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus. If the risk of developing eclampsia is identified, further tactics of pregnancy management are selected.
When and who needs the test?
According to the order of the Ministry of Health No. 417 of 15.07.11, prenatal screening is recommended for all pregnant women, and especially:
- pregnant women over 35 years old;
- if there is a family history of chromosomal abnormalities;
- in case of the presence of Down syndrome in previous pregnancies, if abnormalities are detected on ultrasound;
- to assess the risk of preeclampsia in early pregnancy.
