1312. Allergen. Extract. Hamster epithelium (e84), IgE antibodies
Description
The hamster is a member of the rodent subfamily of the hamster family. Hamsters can cause allergic reactions. The main allergen is its epithelium – superficially located skin cells – due to the protein secretion produced by the sebaceous glands. Also an important role is played by the saliva and urine of a rodent that get on the skin in the process of life.
The symptoms of a hamster allergy are the same as for sensitization to other animals: sneezing, nasal congestion, itching and redness of the eyes, coughing, asthma attacks, manifestations of allergic dermatitis (urticaria, itching and / or eczema), may appear after 3-5 minutes after contact with the allergen, as a rule, increase over time and reach a maximum after 3-4 hours. IgE to the epidermis of the hamster should be taken in combination with the test of sensitization to other animals.
When and who needs the test?
Recommended for detecting sensitization to hamster epithelium in children and adults; to control ongoing drug treatment and allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT).
