Description
The Growth Factors package is a set of tests necessary to detect diseases associated with a deficiency or excess of growth hormones. IGF and GH are polypeptide hormones, that is, small protein molecules necessary for the normal growth and development of bones and tissues of the body.
Indications for the appointment of the examination: symptoms of GH deficiency in children, for example, slow growth, in adults – reduced bone density, fatigue, low endurance during physical exertion.
Also, the test is recommended for suspected low activity of the pituitary gland, symptoms of gigantism in children, or acromegaly in adults; after surgery to remove a tumor produced by GH (to confirm that it was completely removed); while undergoing drug or radiation therapy, usually following surgery to remove a tumor.
When and who needs the test?
It is recommended to take this test in case of suspicion of the synthesis of growth hormone violation as the cause of clinical manifestations (growth disorders, reproductive disorders, bone changes, diabetes mellitus, cardiomegaly, etc.).
