Description
Antithrombin is a substance synthesized by the liver and endothelial cells. Ensures the proper functioning of heparin, inhibits the work of certain blood clotting factors. Insufficiency of antithrombin or its functional inferiority causes the development of thrombosis.
The study of antithrombin activity makes it possible to assess its quantity and quality and is used to identify the causes of thrombosis and the effectiveness of treatment. The indicator is studied in combination with a coagulogram (package No. 282).
When and who needs the test?
Identification of the causes of thrombosis:
- venous or arterial, especially occurring at a young age;
- before prescribing heparin to predict the effectiveness of treatment;
- lack of effectiveness from the appointment of heparin.
