Description
The 24-hour urine albumin test allows determination of the amount of albumin excreted in the urine over a 24-hour period. The test is used to assess kidney function, detect early kidney damage, and monitor the course of kidney diseases.
When and who needs the test?
The test is recommended for the early detection of kidney diseases, as in the initial stages they may occur without pronounced symptoms.
It is especially advisable for people at increased risk:
- diabetes mellitus;
- elevated blood pressure;
- heart disease or heart failure;
- obesity.
The test is also recommended:
- for individuals over 60 years of age;
- for people with a family history of kidney disease;
- after an episode of acute kidney injury;
- for smokers;
- in the presence of chronic or autoimmune diseases;
- in cases of prolonged or severe urinary tract infections.

RULES FOR COLLECTION OF DAILY URINE:
- Collect urine for 24 hours, maintaining a normal drinking regime.
- After waking up in the morning, empty your bladder (this portion of urine is poured into the toilet).
