Description

PRISCA II trimester + ferritin package – screening for chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus in the first trimester.

This screening detects Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome.

Risk factors for the development of these pathologies are: late pregnancy, older than 35 years, multiple pregnancies, children with chromosomal abnormalities (trisomy 21, 13, or 18), radiation exposure, taking medications early in pregnancy that have teratogenic effect, pregnancy, in-vitro fertilization, smoking and diabetes in the anamnesis. Additionally, maternal iron levels are checked in the packet.

When and who needs the test?

According to the order of the Ministry of Health № 417 of 15.07. 11 all pregnant women are recommended for prenatal screening, and especially:


  • Pregnant women over 35 years of age;
  • in the presence of chromosomal abnormalities in the family history;
  • Down syndrome in previous pregnancies;
  • deviations on ultrasound;
  • in case of deviations in biochemical indicators of prenatal screening in the first trimester;
  • high risk of chromosomal abnormalities according to medical genetic counseling;
  • infections, taking early medications that have teratogenic effect (may cause birth defects and fetal anomalies), anemia in the history.

  • an important condition for laboratory tests is to take blood on an empty stomach.
