Description
Bacteriological examination of urogenital material allows for the detection of yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida, assessment of their quantity, and, in cases of clinically significant growth, determination of their sensitivity to antifungal drugs (antimycotic susceptibility testing, disk diffusion method). The analysis helps confirm or rule out a candidal infection and select effective therapy.
When and who needs the test?
- For women with symptoms of vulvovaginal candidiasis – itching, burning, curd-like discharge, swelling, or redness of the mucous membrane.
- For men with signs of balanoposthitis – redness, itching, pain, or white plaques on the glans penis.
- For patients with recurrent urogenital infections or ineffective previous treatment.
- In cases of prolonged use of antibiotics, immunosuppressive, or hormonal therapy.
- To monitor the effectiveness of candidiasis treatment or during preconception preparation.
