Description

PCR testing for Candida albicans, glabrata, and krusei from endometrial scrapings is a sensitive method for detecting fungal infections in the uterine cavity. It is recommended for chronic endometritis, infertility, recurrent STIs, or failure of antifungal therapy.

When and who needs the test?

  • Women with suspected chronic endometritis (especially if asymptomatic).
  • In cases of recurrent miscarriages, miscarriages, or unsuccessful IVF attempts.
  • In cases of unexplained infertility.
  • In cases of vaginal/cervical candidiasis that is refractory to treatment.
  • To rule out a fungal infection before invasive uterine procedures (hysteroscopy, invasive intrauterine interventions).
  • In cases of failure to respond to standard fluconazole therapy or recurrent relapses.
